A fast-moving cold front swept across Hungary, bringing strong winds over a wide area as their direction shifted to the northwest and north. The record gust occurred in the early hours.
The measurement represents a Budapest record for this calendar date, rather than the capital’s strongest wind gust ever recorded.
HungaroMet noted that historical weather records remain subject to verification. Some older observations, particularly those from the first half of the 20th century, survive primarily in handwritten form, meaning previously unidentified extremes or erroneous entries may still emerge.
