It finds that trends that were already underway in the domestic used-car market have continued to strengthen: the gradual rise of alternative-fuel vehicles, the slow restructuring of price categories, and shifts in the positions of brands and models.
In December 2025, 37.2% of advertisements on the domestic pre-owned auto market were priced below HUF 2.5 million, 28.3% were between HUF 2.5 mln and HUF 5 mln, 22.5% were between HUF 5 mln and HUF 10 mln, and 12% were above HUF 10 mln.
Over the course of a year, the share of the cheapest segment decreased by 4.3%, while the share of the HUF 2.5 mln-5 mln and HUF 5 mln-10 mln categories increased by 1.7% and 2.5%, respectively. The average asking price in December was HUF 5.5 mln, a slight increase of approximately HUF 100,000 compared to the same period last year.
Nearly half of the passenger cars advertised (52,900) were gasoline-powered, while diesel autos took a 41.2% (44,600) share. Electric vehicles accounted for 5.2% of the supply and hybrids for 4.6%. Compared to December 2024, the number of electric cars on Használtautó.hu increased by 29.1%, and hybrids by 17.9%. Gasoline-powered autos increased by 2.2%, while the number of diesel-powered vehicles remained essentially unchanged.
The gasoline cars had an average of 154,000 kilometers, while the diesel cars had 220,000 kilometers. Petrol vehicles were older, on average, at 13.5 years, while diesels were 12.2 years.

Hybrids, Evs Getting Cheaper
The prices of hybrid and electric cars were practically the same in December: the average cost of hybrids was HUF 11.27 mln, while that of EVs was HUF 11.11 mln. This represents a price decrease of 6.2% for hybrids and 10.8% for EVs over the course of a year.
Használtautó.hu and KSH say a vehicle loses 6-8% of its value each year, and every 1,000 kilometers driven results in a further 0.2% price reduction.
The 10 most popular brands show a slow increase in age over the long term, but a decrease in the short term during the period observed. Opel, Renault, and Volkswagen have the oldest average age, ranging from 12.5 to 13.6 years. Ford and Mercedes-Benz follow them at 11.9 to 12 years, and then Audi and Toyota, which are on average 11.2 to 11.6 years old. The average age of BMWs is approximately 10.9 years, Škodas are roughly 10.2 years old, and the “youngest” player, Kia, is approximately 9.2 years old.
Looking at average prices, the three major German premium manufacturers, Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, lead the pack by a wide margin in the HUF 8.5 mln–10.2 mln forint category. They are followed by Toyota, Kia, Škoda, and Volkswagen, with prices ranging from HUF 4.6 mln-5.3 mln forint. Ford lags slightly behind, with prices less than HUF 4 mln, while Renault and Opel represent the lower end of the most popular brands, with prices below HUF 3 mln.
According to the Használtautó.hu-KSH survey, the market is clearly getting younger, with more alternative drive models appearing, and buyers having access to a growing proportion of cars in better condition with more favorable mileage.
