With the additional aircraft, Wizz Air will further strengthen its position as Hungary’s market-leading airline and de facto national carrier, offering the largest seat capacity and widest route network from Budapest.
The expanded fleet will support the launch of five new, exclusively Wizz Air-operated routes focused largely on leisure travel. From June, passengers will be able to fly directly from Budapest to two new destinations in Greece: the island of Kefalonia and the southern Peloponnese region near Kalamata.
The airline is also expanding its Spanish offering, which will reach 10 destinations with the addition of a new route to Menorca, also starting in June.
Direct access to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast will be added with twice-weekly flights to Varna beginning in June. In addition, Wizz Air will increase connectivity to Poland, operating four weekly flights to Krakow, the country’s former capital, from the end of April.
