IBudapest Airport donated HUF 20 million to the Heim Pál National Pediatric Institute to support the recovery of sick children. The donation was presented to Dr. Anikó Nagy, chief medical officer and director general of the hospital, by Minister for National Economy Márton Nagy and François Berisot, CEO of Budapest Airport, on behalf of the airport operator.
The hospital said the contribution will be used to develop the Emergency Department of the Heim Pál National Pediatric Institute, strengthening pediatric emergency care and improving conditions for young patients and their families.
Passenger numbers continued to rise sharply toward the end of the year. A total of 1,552,078 passengers traveled through Ferenc Liszt International Airport in November, representing an 11% increase compared with the same month last year. Over the first eleven months of the year, passenger traffic rose by nearly 12% year-on-year.
At the beginning of December, the airport reached a historic milestone as total annual passenger traffic exceeded 19 million for the first time since the airport’s opening.
The positive trend was also reflected in cargo operations. In November, cargo volumes reached 40,406 tons, nearly 30% higher than a year earlier. For the first eleven months, total cargo handled amounted to 389,158 tons, marking a 43% increase compared with the same period last year.
Alongside operational achievements, Budapest Airport also introduced a redesigned website, www.bud.hu, following more than two years of preparation and coordinated background work.
The website now guides travelers step by step through the air travel process, helping them prepare for their journey and access information on services for passengers traveling with small children or pets. The homepage displays real-time details such as expected waiting times at passenger security screening and information on special assistance services. Business users, media representatives and job seekers will also find a more transparent structure in the B2B, media center and careers sections.
