Local orchards are projected to produce 60,000-80,000 tonnes of fresh apples and 80,000-100,000 tonnes of industrial apples destined for processing or juice production.
Apples are currently cultivated on around 20,000 hectares in Hungary, about half the area planted two decades ago.
Popular domestic varieties include Jonagold, Idared, Gala, Golden Delicious and Red Delicious.
