Addressing criticism from opposition leaders who argued that the scheme could raise property prices by 20-40%, Panyi said in a social media post that more than 100,000 eligible homes are currently for sale across Hungary, including in rural areas, major cities, and Budapest.

He added that many more properties will enter the market as owners see renewed demand.

Panyi also said over 10,000 housing projects aimed at first-time buyers will launch in Budapest this autumn, further boosting supply.

The scheme includes price ceilings of HUF 100 million for apartments and HUF 150 mln for houses.
