Non-EU nationals applied for clearance for 3,647 property transactions and 3,485 of those were approved, indicating activity unmatched since before the pandemic, Duna House said, citing data on the government website.
The number of applications climbed 23% from a year earlier, while transaction volume accounted for 2.8% of total real estate sales, said Duna House deputy-CEO Ferenc Máté.
The data show 84% of those transactions involved home purchases and 76% were in the capital.
The largest group of non-EU real estate buyers in Hungary were the Chinese, buying 1,106 properties, up 71% from 2023. Vietnamese nationals accounted for 16% of property purchases by non-EU nationals.
