The partnership will see dedicated maintenance lines at Lufthansa Technik Budapest and Sofia handle letter checks for approximately 100 aircraft during the winter seasons in the coming years.
The agreement deepens a long-standing relationship between the two companies. Eurowings already benefits from Lufthansa Technik’s component and engine services and was one of the first adopters of the company’s Aviatar digital solutions for technical operations, which it began using in 2019.
Matthias Gruber, VP technical fleet management Eurowings and managing director of Eurowings Technik, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “Based on our long-standing cooperation, we are delighted about the new base maintenance contract with Lufthansa Technik, which will enable us to continue to guarantee the high quality standards in the technical reliability of our aircraft. It also gives us the flexibility we need to get our fleet ready for the summer during the winter season.”
The maintenance support will include two exclusive lines at Lufthansa Technik Budapest and two additional lines at Lufthansa Technik Sofia, ensuring seamless service for Eurowings’ all-Airbus A320 fleet, which includes A319, A320, A320neo, A321, and A321neo models.
Marcus Motschenbacher, VP and chief commercial officer Aircraft Maintenance Services at Lufthansa Technik, highlighted the tailored approach of the agreement: “The continued trust of Eurowings and the dedication of four lines demonstrates that our base maintenance services and aircraft modification programs are tailored to our customer’s needs by thinking beyond the obvious. We look forward to continuing our trustful cooperation.”
Eurowings, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, operates a fleet of over 100 Airbus A320 family aircraft and serves as one of Europe’s leading low-cost carriers. The new agreement ensures the airline’s fleet will maintain its high technical standards and operational readiness for peak seasons.
