Around 200,000 guests spent some 362,000 guest nights at commercial accommodations over the long weekend. Domestic travelers accounted for 187,000 of the guest nights and foreign visitors for 175,000, figures from the National Tourism Data Service Center (NTAK) show.

Visitors spent 106,000 guest nights at accommodations in the capital. Foreigners, first of all, Poles, accounted for 87% of bookings there.

Guest nights reached 57,000 in the area around Lake Balaton and 32,000 in the Mátra-Bükk Hills region in the northeast of the country.

Spa towns, such as Zalakaros, Eger, Gyula, and Hajdúszoboszló were popular with domestic travelers.

Revenue of commercial accommodations came to HUF 7 bln over the weekend and included HUF 0.3 bln from SZÉP recreational voucher card charges. 

Bookings for the long Pentecost weekend stand at 230,000, nearly double the number a year earlier, the Hungarian Tourism Agency said.
