Orbán said that the Hungarian-Romanian links currently “are not promising”, however this “has not always been the case,” as “until 2012 there was a practical and successful cooperation between the two countries based on trust”.

This past weekend the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized Viktor Orbán’s Facebook post, which contained pins of revisionist symbols widely used by Hungarian nationalists to express nationalist sentiment. Yesterday the Prime Minister’s press office issued a short press release stating that the image published on the PM’s Facebook page this past Saturday contained “historical symbols” which the Romanian Ministry [mis]interpreted as revisionist symbols.
