Orbán said that the government does not want to “transfer the responsibility of making a decision” to the citizens, however, it feels the opinion of Hungarianʼs is important regarding this issue.
The prime minister said that current EU regulations on the matter “are foolish” as they prevent countries from acting upon the issue rather than aiding them in the process. Orbán believes that EU members should regulate individually on the matter.
According to Orbán, Hungary as a Christian country is responsible for troubled people, but the solution is no that “everyone” come to Europe. “We cannot be like a cheese full of holes that allows people to come and go through us,” Orbán said. Instead of welcoming immigrants, those who want to escape should be assisted in remaining in their home countries.
