The company was sold by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s son-in-law in April of this year and is now being investigated by The European Commission’s Anti-Fraud Investigation Office (OLAF) due to public lighting contracts obtained by the company during the period when István Tiborcz was still a proprietor.
Elios refused to comment saying that they cannot speak about the matter while the tender process is ongoing, despite the process having already been closed. According to the newspaper, the second bidder in line, Gomvill Kft., has now been awarded the contract.
