The decision also covers the termination of Hungary’s withdrawal from the court’s statute and the agreement on the privileges and immunities of the court.
The Bureau of the Assembly also congratulated the Hungarian government’s decision, which it described as essential for ensuring accountability, strengthening the international legal order and supporting multilateral institutions.
In April 2025, the previous government decided that Hungary would withdraw from the ICC.
The court was established in 2002 with the aim of prosecuting war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and crimes of aggression in cases where member states are unwilling or unable to do so.
