Szijjártó inaugurated an investment by Hungarian vehicle cable maker Tisza Automotive together with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic. Headcount at the companyʼs plant in Senta is set to rise from 490 at present to 1,000 by the end of next year.
Szijjártó said bilateral trade between the two countries had reached a record €1.7 bln last year, but he acknowledged that the closure of the Röszke border crossing due to the migrant crisis would impact this yearʼs figures. Vucic said Hungarian investments in Serbia were on the rise and that Hungarian companies were showing a growing interest in privatizations in the country.
Szijjártó said neither the Hungarian nor the Serbian government would allow good relations between the two countries to fall prey to problems arising from the migrant crisis.
