The ministry said that Turkey’s role in CEE’s energy security is expected to grow significantly in the near future, as Russia is planning to deliver gas through the country now that the South Stream project has been scrapped. As a result, Turkey will play a key role in gas deliveries, as the country will be able to decide where to export the gas it receives from Russia. “It is in Hungary’s interest that Turkey send gas to the country” the statement said.
The parties will negotiate on bilateral economic cooperation between Hungary and Turkey. Hungarian exports to Turkey grew by 11.7%, exceeding $2 bln last year.
