In the post, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade said that Brussels wanted to put the regulation banning Russian oil and gas from Europe to a vote next week, which would make it impossible to secure the energy supply of Hungary and Slovakia, and would lead to sharp price increases.

“This regulation is also a massive legal fraud, since it is clearly a sanctions measure that would require unanimous approval,” he said. “It goes against the EU Treaties as well, which state that energy policy is a national competence, and contradicts even Brussels’s own assessment.”

“Therefore, as soon as the RePowerEU plan is adopted, together with Slovakia, we will submit an annulment request to the European Court of Justice, and we will ask for the suspension of the regulation for the duration of the court proceedings.” Szijjártó added.
