Other signatories on the agreement signed in Sofia, Bulgaria, yesterday, include Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. The Bosnia & Herzegovina ANSP has pledged to sign the agreement in January 2014.
The combined airspace would incorporate that of three extant blocks, known as the Baltic Functional Airspace Block, the Danube FAB and the FAB Central Europe, in an effort to increase European competitiveness in the air transport sector and reduce emissions. A total of nine FABs cover the entire commercial airspace of the European Union.

“With respect to the Single European Sky objectives set by the European Commission, the signatories to the agreement pointed out in regard to the draft regulation on SES II+ that in its present form it does not constitute the content for new legislative steps, it needs in a number of its provisions further refinement and detailed evaluation and justification of its elements before it can be put into effect.”
