MPs cleared the government to extend the state of emergency due to the war in neighboring Ukraine until November 25 in a vote in parliament on Wednesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Lawmakers cleared the measure with a vote of 132 for, 58 against, and no abstentions.

The amended legislation applies to the state of emergency declared by the government on November 1, 2022, for a period of 30 days and extended for another 180 days.

In their justification for the measure, the authors of the bill said the situation regarding the armed conflict and humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine, as well as the consequences on Hungary, related to refugees, the economy, and energy, had "not changed in the recent period".
