If approved by lawmakers, Hungary's 2024 local elections would be moved forward from October to April, May, June or July, depending on the scheduling of European Parliament elections.
In the reasoning for the bill, Kocsis said holding the elections at the same time would result in "significant savings," noting that holding a referendum at the same time as the general elections in April had saved more than HUF 10 billion.
