Mabisz noted that insurers are set to pay more than in the previous record year of 2021 when storm damage claims came to HUF 9.1 bln. In the past 14 years, the number of home insurance claims exceeded 1.6 million, and the total amount of claims was HUF 122 bln.
Insurance firms have received nearly 110,000 claims from policyholders over the storm season.
Most claims were related to storms on June 23 and August 4-5. Like last year, damage caused by lightning strikes and their secondary effects were remarkably high.
This year's average damage claim is more than HUF 120,000 per case, 20-40% higher than the previous years' average as storms have been more intense and repair costs have risen.
