Based on raw data, the volume of investments was 1.3% lower in the fourth quarter compared with the same period a year earlier. Seasonally adjusted figures show that the total value of investments at comparative prices edged up 0.1% compared with the previous quarter.

For 2025 as a whole, investment performance was 4.3% lower than in 2024, reflecting weaker activity across several key sectors of the national economy.

According to seasonally adjusted data, investment performance fell by 1.7% in the fourth quarter compared with the same period of the previous year.

The decline was driven primarily by lower investment activity in manufacturing and public administration, which were the largest contributors to the overall decrease. At the same time, rising investment activity in transportation and storage, as well as in real estate activities, helped moderate the downturn.

Despite the slight quarter-on-quarter uptick at the end of the year, the broader annual data indicate continued headwinds for investment activity in Hungary’s economy in 2025.
