Farm gate prices in Hungary rose 14.6% year-on-year in March, slowing from a 17.0% increase in the previous month, the Central Statistics Office (KSH) said on Thursday. The price of crops rose 20.5% and the price of live animals and animal products increased 4.2%. Grain prices increased 25.9% and potato prices jumped 74.9%, but the price of fruit was practically flat and fresh vegetable prices rose just 5.6%. Live cattle prices dipped 21.7%, but hog prices increased 6.0% and poultry prices were up 13.3%. Egg prices fell 12.3% and milk prices edged up 2.5%. Input prices rose 7.5% in the first quarter from the same period a year earlier as feed prices shot up 26.7%. The price of farm investments inched up 1.8% during the same period.
