When accounting for tax benefits, the average net earnings rose to HUF 448,700. This represents an increase of 14.6% in net earnings compared to May 2023. Real earnings, adjusted for inflation, also saw a notable rise of 10.4%, underscoring the substantial improvement in purchasing power for Hungarian workers.
The median gross earnings, often considered a more accurate reflection of typical earnings than the average, reached HUF 525,100. This figure represents a 16.9% increase from the previous year. Similarly, the median net earnings, including tax benefits, rose by 17.2% to HUF 363,900.
Breaking down the statistics by sector reveals interesting variations. Regular average gross earnings, excluding premiums and one-time bonuses, were estimated at HUF 607,800, up by 15.1% from the previous year. In the business sector, regular average gross earnings amounted to HUF 609,100, reflecting a 14.1% increase. The budgetary sector saw an even higher rise of 17.5%, with earnings reaching HUF 592,900. The non-profit sector experienced the most significant growth, with regular average gross earnings climbing by 19.3% to HUF 636,200.
Looking at the broader time frame from January to May 2024, full-time employees' average gross earnings were HUF 633,300. During the same period, average net earnings, excluding tax benefits, were HUF 421,100, while net earnings including tax benefits reached HUF 435,800. These figures represent annual increases of 14.2% and 14%, respectively.
