The four regions are Northern Hungary at 47% of the EU average GDP per capita (PPP), and Southern Transdanubia, the Northern Great Plain and the Southern Great Plain each at 50%.

French overseas territories like Mayotte (30%) and French Guiana (41%) anchor the bottom, followed by Bulgarian and Greek continental regions at 42-45%.

On the other hand, Budapest stands out positively in 11th place among top regions, with 168% of the average, alongside cities like Hamburg (196%) and Prague (192%), while Pest county scrapes into the top 20 of the growth list.

Northern Hungary and Southern Transdanubia have shown sub-average growth since 2000, according to Eurostat.
