The international survey commissioned by Provident Financial Zrt. on behalf of its parent company, International Personal Finance (IPF), and conducted across nine countries, found that 47.7% of Hungarian respondents can save no more than 20% of their monthly income.

The proportion of people living paycheck to paycheck in Hungary has climbed steadily from 21.1% in 2022 to more than 25% in both 2023 and 2024, reaching its current level this year.

In comparison, the average rate of those unable to save in IPF’s other European markets (Poland, the Czech Republic, and Romania) is 18.6%, the statement said.
