Samsung SDI said in a filing with the Korea Exchange the investment will be made to boost output of active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AM OLED) displays. It did not elaborate.
Samsung SDI produces small AM OLED screens used in handheld devices, while Japan’s Sony Corp last November started selling small-sized TVs using OLED technology. Toshiba Corp also plans to ship small-to-medium-size OLED screens for mobile devices in the autumn. (Reuters)
