Malév will bid against El-Al and Bedek Aviation, business daily Világgazdaság wrote. The deadline for bidding is September 26.

A decision on whether Malév‘s own maintenance unit Aeroplex will bid for JAT Technika stake itself or together with its parent company has not yet been made. Malév could later may acquire an option to purchase the remaining 30% of the company, CEO Péter Leonov said.

Aeroplex is no stranger to foreign markets. It has a base in Russia where it services aircraft not only for Malév and AiRUnion, an airline owned by Malév owner Boris Abramovich, but for El-Al and Austrian Airlines too. Aeroplex is also competing to service Russian Sukhoi aircraft both in Russia and in Europe, Leonov said. (MTI – Econews)
