Forint weakens on concerns over political turmoil in North Africa and the Middle East The forint weakened on Tuesday morning’s interbank market, trading at 272.76 against the euro at 10:00 a.m., compared to a Monday-afternoon rate of 270.88.
Dealers attribute the forint’s weakening to a rise in risk-aversion among traders stemming from the political upheaval taking place in North Africa and the Middle East.
The forint traded at 201.45 to the dollar on Tuesday morning, compared to a Monday-afternoon rate of 198.37. The forint traded at 212.85 to the Swiss franc on Tuesday morning, compared to a Monday-afternoon rate of 209.18.
