Erste Bank and insurer CIG Pannónia Biztosító both plan to set up independent home savings banks, business daily Világgazdaság said on Wednesday, without naming its sources.
Erste Bank is the Hungarian unit of Austria’s Erste Group. CIG Pannónia Biztosító is a Hungarian-owned provider of life insurance.
At present, just two home savings banks operate in Hungary: Fundamenta-Lakáskassza and a unit of Hungary’s biggest commercial lender OTP Bank.
