The number of ADSL subscriptions rose 13,000 to 265,000. Cable subscriptions accounted for most of the other internet connections.
Some 818,000 Hungarians had internet access in their homes at the end of November, compared to 789,000 a month earlier.
The NHH based its statistics for the period on figures from the country’s five former concession holders, Magyar Telekom Nyrt, Hungarotel Zrt, Emitel Zrt, Invitel Zrt and Monortel Zrt, as well as alternative telcos PanTel Kft, Tele2 Kft, GTS Datanet Kft and eTel Hungary Kft and cable companies UPC Hungary Kft, T-Kábel Zrt, Fibernet Zrt and EMKTV Kft. These companies account for 85%-90% of the entire broadband market.
