Banai, who has advised the MNB governor since May, was nominated to replace Barnabás Virág, who has resigned.
Banai is scheduled to speak at a hearing before parliament’s economy committee on November 25.
MNB acknowledged Banai’s contribution to the stable operation of the Hungarian economy through his work in the fiscal sphere.
Virág will remain at the as an advisor to the governor.
