In the statement, the Prosecutor General noted that the police had launched a probe of the on February 10, 2025, on the basis of a report by the State Audit Office (ÁSZ).

Commenting on the news, Péter Magyar, the incoming prime minister, faulted the Prosecutor General for doing “too little, too late” by taking over the investigation a year after it was launched.
“The Prosecutor General waited until the thieves who robbed the National Bank made off with the loot, doing nothing,” Magyar said in a post on Facebook.
