The central budget deficit reached HUF 190.8 bln, while the social security funds had a modest surplus of HUF 3.6 bln and the separate state funds were HUF 43.6 bln in the black.
"The 2023 budget ensures the necessary resources to protect workplaces, increase subsidies for families, maintain utility price cuts up to average consumption, and preserve the value of pensions. At the same time, we will reduce the deficit and state debt further," the ministry said.
Amendments to the 2023 budget act the government submitted to lawmakers in January would put the full-year deficit target at HUF 3.4 trillion.
The deficit reached approximately HUF 4.753 tln in 2022.
