Gulyás said that more than 5,000 applications for the 3% fixed-rate loans had been received in the first week following the scheme’s September 1 launch, which he described as an unprecedented figure.

He said the initiative, which provides loans of up to HUF 50 million with a 10% down payment, was “the biggest home support program since the change of system.”

Gulyás added that borrowers could save HUF 30,000 on monthly installments for every HUF 10 mln borrowed under the Home Start scheme compared to market rates.

He also noted that pre-launch consultations with banks ensured they were prepared, contributing to a smooth rollout.
