Separate collection is the first step in enabling recycling, and waste yards play a central role in the circular economy by allowing a large share of household waste to be repurposed.

Since taking over coordination, MOHU has implemented major upgrades, including the launch of a unified digital tracking system that logs all waste received.

Waste yards are open to all residents regardless of where they live and now operate with extended hours in municipalities with populations over 10,000.

They also accept an expanding range of waste types, including cooking oil, wood, furniture, electronics and textiles.
