The Hajdú-Bihar County Government Office told MTI on Friday that because of the incident the water authority withdrew a permit issued allowing the pre-treatment of industrial wastewater and obliged the company to clean the municipal wastewater network and the rainwater drainage.
The office noted that CATL ended the pollution within the set deadline, but due to the violations, the water and environmental authorities will impose fines.
The office said authorities took additional samples from the overflow on the day of the incident on May 5 and testing so far has not revealed any pollution harmful to health.
The authorities rely only on verified accredited sampling results from the first to the last step, it added.
The office also noted that Viktoria Lorincz, the rural development minister, had ordered an extraordinary probe to uncover possible contamination and it is still ongoing.
