The ruling does not mean the plant will shut down, Interior Minister Gábor Pósfai said.

In a Facebook post on Sunday, Pósfai, who also represents the area in Parliament, said the permit was revoked because the environmental impacts of manufacturing and recycling activities should have been assessed separately rather than together.

The issues identified must be addressed in future permitting procedures, he added.

The plant’s environmental permit was issued in December 2025.

The facility produces electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries and recycles NMP, a solvent used in cathode manufacturing.
