Partly because of this, prices have fluctuated strongly in both directions, the ministr told business daily Világgazdaság.

The ministry also said that the July heat wave presented serious challenges to the whole of Europe.

According to the ministry’s response, a repeat of the July peaks can be prevented if the average daily temperature is lower in August, consumption decreases due to vacations, and if the Dunamenti G3 power plant block, which is currently undergoing major maintenance, will be available.

The forecast of the National Meteorological Service predicts daily maximum temperatures of up to 35 degrees Celsius (equal to 95 degrees Fahrenheit) in Budapest, but the southern part of Hungary may be a few degrees hotter, especially during the second part of the week.
