The figure was 6.4% lower than in 2019 and the lowest since 2002.

Overall electricity consumption dropped by 3.5% to 71.4 TWh (terrawatt-hour), which represents a five-year low. According to the Energy Regulatory Office, the main reason behind the low energy production and consumption is the coronavirus outbreak.

On the contrary, household electricity consumption has been fueled by the pandemic, increasing by nearly 5% year-on-year.
