In a video message posted on Facebook on Saturday, Kapitány said 1,000 large Hungarian companies responded to the first request by reorganizing production, postponing energy-intensive processes and voluntarily reducing consumption.
As a result, they cut energy use by more than 500 MW during the most critical period, he said.
Conscious energy use helps protect the environment and manage shared resources more responsibly, the minister said.
“It is worth maintaining this responsible approach in our daily lives,” he added.
