Pigs were almost 14% cheaper in the last week of July 2024 than in the same period of 2023, costing approximately HUF 826 per kilogram.
The producer price of chickens fell by 13% in the same period, to about HUF 420 per kilogram.
The producer price of turkey, amounting to HUF 582 per kilogram, is about 12% below the value recorded at the end of July 2023.
According to the latest data, the processing sales prices and retail purchase prices of raw pork almost without exception fell short of last year’s level.
Depending on the type of meat, the difference could exceed 10%.
The processing sales price and retail purchase price of fresh chicken developed similarly, and turkey also became cheaper based on the annual price comparison.
