Presenting the results this week, KSH department head Péter Tóth said the number of farms under 1 hectare had been halved in the past three years, while the number larger than 1,000 hectares had dropped around 20%.
The share of crop farms rose to 73%, while the share of livestock farms fell to 14%.
The share of farmers over the age of 65 stands at 37%, while the share under the age of 40 is just 10%.
The share of farmers who have finished a secondary education program in agriculture is 34% and 11% have a higher education degree.
