Breaking down the figures, tractors with more than 200 horsepower continued to dominate in 2025, accounting for 61% of the total volume. In terms of brand competition, John Deere continues to lead the field with a 16.6% share of sales, according to DataHouse data.

Claas has held a stable second place for several years and did so again with a 12.7% share. Solis, which returned to the podium in 2024, came in third again, with the Indian manufacturer’s share at 8.9% in 2025. New Holland and Fendt also made it into the top five brands, with shares of 8.4% and 4.9%, respectively.

“Due to the slump in crop prices since 2023, farmers are now much more conscious about their investments, and even those who can finance new machinery entirely from their own resources are more cautious in their decisions,” said Bence Bolyki, managing director of Agroinform.hu, one of Hungary’s leading agricultural portals.

“On the positive side, however, low-interest business loans have reduced the financing risk, which in many cases has made it possible to purchase machinery that had previously been postponed,” he adds.

One consequence of market caution is that farmers are increasingly seeking information from multiple sources before making a decision. This is reflected in the interest in both new and used tractors.

Safe vs Cheap

“Farmers are not necessarily looking for the cheapest solution, but rather a safe decision. To do this, it is now essential that the parameters, prices, and availability of new and used machines can be compared in one place,” Bolyki argues, making a plug for his own portal.

Last year, more than 1.3 million tractor searches were conducted on Agroinform.hu, the largest domestic online agricultural marketplace. Through the platform alone, 70 new tractors were sold, totaling more than HUF 1 bln. (At the time of writing, there are currently 840 new machines available on the platform.)

A total of nearly 4,000 tractors were advertised on Agroinform last year. A significant portion of this number, some 40%, were MTZ (Minsk Tractor Works) brand machines, which clearly shows that a significant portion of the domestic tractor fleet continues to be made up of products from the Belarusian factory. John Deere accounted for 16% of the supply on Agroinform, New Holland for 9%, and Claas and Massey Ferguson for 5% each.

According to market experts, moderate growth of a few percent is expected in the new tractor market in 2026, meaning that the annual sales of 3,000 units seen in previous years will not return for the time being. Meanwhile, sales of used machines are likely to remain brisk.
