In an interview with state-owned all news channel M1 this morning, Kovács said that “Hungary does not believe that fences are a solution to the influx of migrants, but rather a tool to help fight illegal immigration.” He emphasized, once again, that the Schengen Treaty stipulates that member states may use any means necessary to defend their borders.
Commenting on Croatia, Kovács said that although Croatia is not a member of the Schengen Treaty, it is a member of the European Union and yet it has declared that it will not adhere to EU regulations.
