Hungary sold 2,587,500 emission unit allowances (EUA) at a price of €2.76 per EUA at an auction on the European Energy Exchange (EEX)on Tuesday, Leipzig-based EEX said. The auction proceeded €7.14 million, Econews calculated. 15 companies bid for a total amount of 6,615,000 EUAs at the auction, giving a cover ratio of 2.6, EEX told MTI. Hungary will auction a similar volume on the EEX on April 25. The sales are from the quotas effective between 2008 and 2012, which have to be sold by the end of April. Tuesday’s auction was the first emission unit sales by Hungary this year. Last year it sold a total of 2.5 million EUAs at two auctions, raising about €16.2 million.
