The company’s chief executive, Máté Hollós, said the dominantly classical label had been preparing for online sales for the past year, and its entire digital collection is now online, while the company is in the process of digitizing and uploading its analogue archives.
He said that the value of its international turnover via iTunes had already overtaken all domestic downloads since the beginning of the month. A third of sales come from the United States and half are from the European Union. The rest are divided between Japan, Canada and Australia.
Hungaroton had after-tax profit of HUF 30.3 million in 2009 and HUF 27.7 million in 2008. Revenue fell to HUF 931.3 million from HUF 1.05 billion at the same time
