The Budapest Stock Exchange BUX index closed Tuesday trade down 2.5% to 18.639, though recovered nearly half of early losses that dropped the blue-chip index to a nearly two-year low during the forenoon portion of the BSE’s Tuesday session.
The BUX lost 474 points on a heavy composite exchange turnover of HUF 31.73 billion, fluctuating in an extraordinarily broad, 7.1% range between an intra-session high of 19,384 at 9:15 a.m. and an intraday low of 18,000.42 at 11:15 a.m., the index’s lowest intraday tally since August 19, 2009.
The four blue chips stood as follows at Tuesday’s closing bell:
Oil and gas company MOL tumbled 4.4% to HUF 16,900 on a turnover of HUF 7.75 billion.
Magyar Telekom fell 2,5% to HUF 502 on a turnover of HUF 2.25 billion.
OTP Bank dropped 1.5% to HUF 4,475 on a turnover of HUF 17.94 billion.
Drugmaker Richter gained 0.6% to HUF 34,500 on a turnover of HUF 2.64 billion.
