The Budapest Stock Exchange’s blue-chip BUX index was down 0.64% at noon on Monday as renewed concerns with regard to Greece’s financial stability weighed on sentiment at bourses throughout Europe.
The BUX commenced afternoon trade down 150.18 points at 23,187.32 on a light composite exchange turnover of HUF 2.69 billion as many investors idled in a wait-and-see mode ahead of an impending meeting of euro-zone financial officials to discuss the possible provision of additional bail-out funding to Greece.
BSE blue-chips stood as follows at Monday noon:
OTP Bank was down 1.10% at HUF 6,181 on an exchange-high turnover of HUF 1.82 billion;
Drug company Richter was down 0.67% at HUF 36,255 on a turnover of HUF 378 million;
Magyar Telekom was down 0.56% at HUF 537 on a turnover of HUF 138 million;
Oil and gas company MOL was down 0.02% at HUF 23,055 on a turnover of HUF 246 million.
Major European blue-chip stock indices were in negative territory at midday, with London’s FTSE-100 down 0.92% and Frankfurt’s Xetra DAX down 1.47%.
The BUX’s central and eastern European high-cap peer indices were also lower at noon, with Prague’s PX-50 down 1.11% and Warsaw’s WIG-20 down 0.22%.
