Businesses most often resorted to backups for this purpose. Of those who paid a ransom, 50% paid less than HUF 10 million, but 7% handed over more than HUF 100 mln to cybercriminals.
In 2023, every fifth Hungarian business was attacked with malicious software. In the case of every fourth company that fell victim to the ransomware virus, the total loss caused by the attack was between HUF 5 mln and HUF 50 mln.
Some 8% of the companies recorded a loss of more than HUF 50 mln.
