Revolut plans to celebrate it together with its customers during this year’s edition of Sziget Festival.

When the partnership with one of the biggest music events in Europe was announced last year, Revolut had just crossed 1 million customers in Hungary, the company tells the Budapest Business Journal. Today, Revolut reported that it has 1.5 million retail customers (+53% year-on-year) and is close to reaching 7,000 business clients (+56% y.o.y.). One of them is Sziget Cultural Management Ltd., the organizer of the festival.

“We are proud to support over 1.5M retail customers and thousands of our corporate clients in Hungary. However, what makes me especially happy is to see how our retail and business customers transact with each other using our acquiring services. Revolut Pay makes these transactions easier, faster, more convenient and with possible cashback on top – just like we do with tickets for the Sziget Festival,” said Tamás Léder, country manager, Revolut Hungary.

The Infrastructure Behind 25 mln Transactions a Month

Revolut is processing close to 25 million transactions a month for its customers in Hungary (+57% y.o.y.). Many of them take place during summer festivals. Last year almost 15% of Sziget participants were paying at the event with Revolut cards. This year close to 15,000 people bought tickets to Sziget with online Revolut Pay check-out. Revolut customers’ ticket spending is already 14% higher y.o.y.

Digital services, like online ticketing platforms, cannot scale without high performance payments processing, Revolut says.

“It is a win-win deal. If you are a Revolut card holder and going shopping, choose a merchant who offers checkout with Revolut Pay. There might be a surprise waiting for you there, a cashback or promotion. If you are a merchant, reach out to us for in-app campaigns, corporate banking and high-performance payment processing. It should decrease your checkout drop-out rate, provide top user experience, and save you time and money,” adds Léder.

Marketing Campaign in Full Swing

The Revolut x Sziget marketing campaign is already in full swing, according to the company. People who sign up to Revolut for the first time get EUR 20 cashback for their first purchase with their virtual or physical card.

Revolut Pay is also one of the recommended payment methods on Sziget checkout and anyone can use it (regardless if they are Revolut customer or not). Right now also a special batch of Night Tickets for those who plan to party all night from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m. has arrived at Sziget (this promotion is available only with Revolut Pay payment method, until August 6).

Revolut Stage, the second largest at the festival, will offer the following lineup:

Day 1: Blondshell, Tkay Maidza, Joost, L’lmperatrice, Marc Rebillet, Barry Can’t Swim,
Day 2: Nova Twins, Goldband, grandson, Aurora, Meute, Tinlicker live,

“When love brands meet, magic happens. After supporting Sziget with event promotion and ticket sale, we are fast approaching the long-awaited week at the Island Of Freedom. We look forward to hosting everyone, including our old and new customers, near the Revolut Stage. If you don’t have your Revolut card yet, there will be an option to get Revolut unlinked cards on-site at Sziget and to join the customer community by registering to Revolut,” said Mariia Lukash, head of growth, Revolut CEE.

Revolut Continues to Invest in Hungary

Revolut was the most downloaded banking app in Hungary in 2023 and it hasn’t changed since then, according to the company. In fact, it is now the most downloaded banking app across the entire CEE (Hungary, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Czechia, Lithuania). Hungary continues to be in Top 3 best performing Revolut markets in CEE. Revolut has close to 12 million customers in CEE, which is also one of its best-performing regions globally.

Revolut continues to roll out products in Hungary, such as Instant Access Savings Account, Flexible Accounts, Flexible Cash Funds, Revolut Reader, Robo-Advisor, Bonds Trading, Wealth Protection and eSIM.

“Revolut is on a mission to build a borderless economy. With high-performance proprietary technology such as Revolut Pay we are able to meet high volume payment needs of large-scale operations, from online ticketing platforms (global events like Sziget in Hungary), leading e-commerce services (like online store of A1 Telecom in Croatia) to national charity actions (The RTÉ Toy Show Appeal in Ireland),” said Antoine le Nel, chief growth & marketing officer and partner at Revolut.

“We are proud to support the brands and causes that people love. Sziget is one of them and we are thrilled to celebrate our 1.5 million customers in Hungary milestone at the largest European festival in the beautiful city of Budapest. We are intensifying our local efforts and investments to reach the 2 million mark in Hungary and 15 million customers milestone in CEE,” added Antoine le Nel.
